These gorgeous frames are new into the store and rare in the USA. They are made from 60 to 70 year old oak from a Scottish Whisky Barrel and are handmade in Edinburgh by a family run business who featured on the UK equivalent of Shark Tank.
The design utilizes the elegant curve of the original barrel for a freestanding frame (also includes wall-mounting hardware on the back).
Look closely behind the photo on the front and you’ll see its backed with genuine Harris Tweed from Scotland from the Outer Hebrides. They buy directly from the weavers themselves to ensure quality and province.
The front features a window for a 4 x 6 photo, held in place with copper screws on a background of Harris tweed. As the frame is made from reclaimed, weathered casks, textures and overall dimensions will vary slightly, making each one truly unique.
The back displays two cask characteristics: the charred lining that imparts much of the flavor and color to the whisky on the back, and the patinaed Steel hoops that are taken from the original barrel.
Handmade in Edinburgh, Scotland, every frame is hand numbered – enter this number into our frame origin archive and it will tell you from which distillery the barrel used to make your frame came from.
